Atlantic Container Line (ACL) have placed an order for a new breed of deep sea cargo ships, plans have long been in the works for these ships and the order has been placed with a Chinese ship building yard. The G4’s, as they’re dubbed, will be able to hold more containers and stowage, will be larger and faster than previous models and are designed to be fuel efficient and environmentally friendly. The new ships highlight ACL’s commitment to innovation, and are set to replace the previous model, the G3, once complete. New methods of loading containers will help reduce ballast and maximise space.
