Further information: One would assume that the survey would pick up any obvious faults with the trailer (ie. the tyres) So i will quote on the assumption the trailer is in a reasonable condition.

Thanks for quoting. Having looked around, I have chosen to go with you as I think that your experience looks a good match for what I am trying to do (loads of other guys are primarily movers of cars). I wondered what’s the cost of piggybacking the trailer onto your flatbed trailer - I would only be replacing two of the tyres specifically for the journey as when it is in Yarmouth it shouldn’t be moving much!

I am going to see the boat in person next weekend and if the owner and I agree on price, I would like to have it picked up some time in the following week. Does this still work for you and do you have a rough idea when would be suitable?

Sorry to have taken a little while to get back to you.

As things stand at the moment I can fit in with your time scale, and would be able to move it the second half of next week, if not the beginning of the following week.
As to pippybacking the Folkboat it depends on the physical size of the trailer as to whether I can carry it on mine, as the weight and size of the boat and trailer are near the the capacity of my mini artic trailer. When you view it at the weekend could you please take a measurement of the distance from the tow hitch to the front axle and the width of the track to the outside of the tyres.
I don't want to quote you if I'm not able to carry it. A couple of photos of the trailer would help, also check the tyre sizes as I might have wheels and tyres to fit.

No worries about timing - it’s been a really busy time for me too!

I will take the measurements you ask for when I see the boat on Saturday. I also attach a picture of the trailer as well as the portion of the survey dealing with it. The owner tells me that the bearings and brakes were fully serviced 2016 and that the trailer has been used to move the boat from marina to home but has never been in the water. There is at least one spare wheel and I will look at the condition of it when I see the boat.

Second half of next week sounds good, but not a disaster otherwise. Let’s talk once sale is agreed and measurements taken.

Question: Hi William

I went to see the boat today. The measurements you asked for are:
Tow hitch to front axle = 4.4m
Track to outside of wheels = 2.2m

The guy I am buying from is going to put on a coat of antifoul, which is a little weather dependent but will be done by the end of the week.

I can send you pictures of the tyres, but not through this website. My email is [email protected] - if you ping me I will reply with a pic of the wheels. They look crazed to me, so I will look at replacing them if you agree. There is a brand new spare.
