- Question:
Hi there. I'm Phil, first time using the site. I'm interested in your offer of transportation of my newly acquired Skoda Octavia Scout MK2, Edinburgh collection to Caterham, Surrey for delivery.
Bit confused however by the details; think originally I was given the option of a 1-3 day turnaround, or 7-10 days, and I picked the latter to be quoted on as although I'd prefer the car sooner rather than later, it isn't mega urgent to get it here especially if that means I save a few quid.
I'm reading your Further information T&C's; it says "We don't transfer other carriers mid-route.
The driver that collects is the driver that delivers." (Excellent). So what does the 7-10 days bit mean?
I myself am hoping to fly up on the morning of 26.10.18 **this not confirmed yet** to assess the vehicle and hopefully sign it off as good to go. So dates wise for the pickup, if all goes to plan, I'd guess would be the w/c 29.10.18. Do you have availability for that week?
Wait to hear, many thanks

- Response:
Hi Phil
Thank you for getting in touch, if you ask for 1-3 day it means that you want it doing over the next few days this isnt an option as you havent yet purchased the car and people quote extremely high prices as they think you are desperate for the car to be moved. On 7-10 day means that you book the transporter and they have to deliver between 7-10 days which is the better option for you since you have yet bought it.
We collect the car and deliver the car normally the same day depending on the miles and the driver hours it will take to get there. Our vehicle has a tacho graph fitted which is a legal requirement for anyone transporting vehicles. Because if you get stopped by the police or vosa and you dont have one fitted they can impound the vehicle and your vehicle. So then it will be more cost for you to have the vehicle released and extra cost to have it transported again.
We are starting to take bookings for that week as we speak so we can fit you any day through that week.
Any further questions please get in touch I will be happy to answer them
Kind Regards
Teresa

- Question:
Hi Teresa,
Thanks for your reply. Sorry, I wasn't clear before, I have actually purchased the vehicle already. The dealer is doing some refurbishment to the alloys and paintwork before I take it away. I spoke to them today and they estimate that work will be completed either Thursday or Friday (26th). So I have a confirmed flight now for Monday 29th Oct, just so I can make sure the refurb has been done to a good standard, and that I'm happy with it. Therefore I'll need transportation from Tuesday 30th Oct, but preferably asap from that date only because the dealer is reluctant to store the vehicle beyond that week.
Ok so to confirm, the 7-10 days bit means I take delivery within 7-10 days of making a booking, but the exact day within that timeframe you guys work out according to your schedules and then you let me know? And I need to book sooner rather than later to guarantee the aforementioned dates?
If I booked but than had to cancel i.e. there is an issue with the finish, what is your policy on cancellations?
Thanks Teresa, wait to hear

- Response:
Phil
Easy solution to this is to book you in for the 1st with same day delivery.
Should there be an issue with thw work undertaken on your vehicle, a delay in us collecting can be made giving us enough time to arrange a replacement journey for that day.
Does that sound good for you?

- Question:
Hi Ian / Teresa,
Yes, I'd like to book for the 1st please if this slot is still available.
I was awaiting another quote to come back from a firm of transporters recommended by the car dealer, which I now have. The figure they quoted me is for a service that is staggered over two days, including temporary storage in their yard.
I would prefer the piece of mind of a single pickup and drop-off however and appreciate that the price reflects this.
Wait to hear, cheers.
Phil - (22-10-2018)
- Response:
No problem Phil.
We will collext as soon ad they open and travel down in one hit directly to you all on the 1st.
You will need to accept the quote before I can reserve the date however.

- Question:
Hi Ian,
Quote accepted and deposit paid. I've supplied collection info. and drop-off full address.
I will let you know on the 29th if there are any issues therefore delays with the car, but don't anticipate any. If you don't hear from me by lunchtime on the 29th all is well and collection is on track for the 1st.
Any queries give me a call 07751 732091.
Many thanks,

- Question:
Hi Ian / Teresa,
(I emailed this morning also).
Just confirming that the pickup scheduled for Thursday 1st Nov is good to go.
I have seen the car and am happy with the work done on it.
The contact at Car Deal Warehouse, Newbridge, Edinburgh, is a Mark Catterson, tel: 01316 226 444. He is awaiting your call.
Wait to hear. Many thanks,

- Response:
Hi Phil
Sorry haven't got back to you sooner, Ian is busy driving and I have just finished work. Thank you for the info and I will make sure Ian gets sorted and gets back to you asap.
Many thanks

- Question:
Thanks Teresa,
Good to speak to Ian earlier.
(Ian) I caught enough of the conversation, but unfortunately I had a lot of background noise my end, so have a couple more queries re. the new arrangement:
1) Is the overnight storage at your place secure?
2) Will the car stay on the back of the truck overnight?
Also I've been thinking about the drop off; as I don't want to waste your time, and it's probably better to unload in daylight anyway, if you wanted to aim for early afternoon arriving that's totally fine. I can step out at my workplace and head back later that's not a problem, I'm only half an hour away.
Many thanks,
Phil - (30-10-2018)
- Response:
The car stays on the trailer overnight.
Once it's on it stays on till delivery.
Yes completely secure. We break Scotland jobs up by stopping overnight at our base all the time.
The vehicle is also fully insured from collection to delivery.
Ian
