Questions

Question: inventory please. - uk-ireland (04-01-2017)
Response: That's far too much labour at this stage, going through the house room-by-room - I've described it as best as I can. To reiterate, it's a four-bedroom house, inhabited by 2 people with no beds going. I would gauge that the furniture will fit into around 20 cubic metres.
The furniture will go into storage somewhere near Exeter (we will arrange the location ourselves).
There are no passengers - we will go in a car.
We can arrange inspection if someone is passing but this will need to be done promptly.
Question: Thanks for the reply Clive, I will leave a quotation based on 20 cubic metres.

Inspection won't be needed.

Regards John. - uk-ireland (04-01-2017)
Response: Thank you, John. We are both disabled therefore there will need to be two people from your end. The packing will be done but we won't be able to physically help much with the actual shifting of stuff onto your van.
Question: That's no problem Clive, there will be two porters at all times.

If you can accept the quote, we can exchange details and get the ball rolling for your move.

Regards John. - uk-ireland (04-01-2017)
Response: Cool.
Am looking to make a decision in next 48 hours (this needs booking up) but need to discuss it with 'her indoors' first as, no doubt, she will have a question or two. I'm on logistics duties but, as you can probably imagine, the journey (for us) is going to be far from simple.
Best wishes.
Question: Lol no problem Clive, if you have any other questions or queries drop me a message.

Regards John. - uk-ireland (04-01-2017)
Response: Sorry, John
Being a dimwit - realise you answered some of those questions.
Question: No problem Clive when can collect on the date you requested, no need for help as we will be doing all the work.

Regards John. - uk-ireland (05-01-2017)

Response: Hi John

Sorry if I've asked this question before. My head is spinning what with one thing and another.

Do you have any facilities for moving our 3 dogs at the same time (to kennels in the Newton Abbot area - we will arrange the kennels part)?

Crates can be hired quite cheaply and pet insurance obtained but I don't know if this is something you can or want to do.

Kind regards

Clive
Question: Hi Clive the dogs have to travel separate, its against the law to have them in a Van with furniture, i could arrange for pick up on a separate date with an empty Van and would have them in England within 48hrs.

Do the dogs have there passports and vaccination's?.

What type of dogs do you have?.

Regards John. - uk-ireland (06-01-2017)
Response: Hi John

Thanks for responding so promptly. I am desperately trying to get this knocked on the head so that I can get back to my normal work (I'm a commercial writer).

Three ordinary house-mutts all up-to-date with everything, well looked after and complete with documentation. Fret-ye-not on that count. :)

As to the dogs, they are all non-pure-breds and we have had them since puppyhood.

1. 9 year old spinone male. Loves people. Too intelligent for his own good. Adores journeys and would sit in the cab with you if he could.

2. 5 yr old cocker spaniel male. Terminally shy and not an aggressive bone in his body.

3. 1 yr old black labrador bitch. A bit nervy and flighty but absolutely not aggressive.

All dogs neutered/spayed.

We will sort out the kennel destination but it'll be somewhere near Newton Abbot.

Thanks

Clive
Question: Hi Clive,

Moving is one of the most stressful experiences you can have, i'm sure you cant wait till its done and dusted lol.

Moving the three dogs with a separate service would put the cost at around £1800 for this alone.

The two moves would have to be completed over a four to five day period with the dogs being picked up first on the 9th of March and the House move picked up either the 14th-15th.

were happy enough to do both jobs within that time frame..

Regards John. - uk-ireland (06-01-2017)
Response: Hi John

Nope, I can't wait until it's all over. I'm disabled and the move'll be a pig for me. I also have to leave my writing clients in no-mans-land while I make the journey. They are very understanding 'Take your time, Clive, but get your finger out, too'. I'm sure that's familiar.

The furniture move has to be completed by the early morning of the fifteenth so we really can't do that day itself (we have to drive to Alessandria where we have a hotel booked for the first night of our own journey back to the UK).

I have a suggestion.

You have shown continued interest in this move and I respect that. You've also been fastidious and prompt in replying - I like that too. I have had one other price about the same as yours but I'd prefer to come to you, not them. That's being blunt.

How about:

1. Total price £4,250

2. We put your men up for the night of the thirteenth (we have a 4-bedroomed house with only one bedroom being occupied). This can include a decent hot meal and some breakfast. They will need to bring their own bedding.

3. We could do same with the dog transport crew if appropriate.

Let me know if this appeals. Hell, I'll even throw in a free copy of one of my books.

Clive
Question: Sounds all too familiar Clive with meeting deadlines, mines is never ending.

Everything sounds absolutely fine, and the offer of putting us up for the night is much appreciated.

Price is fine also Clive, no problem.

I know i have quoted for the 20 cubic meters but can you provide me with a full inventory Clive as sometimes Area and space calculators can be way off, if it is less we might have an option of doing both moves at the same time and would be a cheaper option for yourself.

What sort of writing do you do Clive?

John. - uk-ireland (06-01-2017)
Response: Hi John

I will do an inventory but I'd like to reserve that time. I am a man of my word and let's consider the matter sorted. I've not used this site before so how do we proceed? I'd give you my phone number but I'm sure that's against the rules - is it?

As to me, I write both fiction and non-fiction. Fiction-wise, I've written both as a man and as a woman and I've covered:

Crime
Sci-Fi
Twist-in-the-tail short stories
Historical romance
Westerns

I'm currently writing a series of true-to-life westerns (about the great cattle drives) plus a cyber-crime book (non-fiction) plus the second volume of a Victorian romance plus an anthology of twist-in-the-tails plus another of ghost stories.

Other stuff is also in progress including a novel seen entirely through the eyes of a serial killer.

I have a US publisher but I also self-publish (depending).

My wife is also a writer and likewise.

Phew!

Best

Clive
Question: I will also leave the first quotation for you to accept Clive because DQC will put on a substantial booking fee on top (none of it we see). - uk-ireland (06-01-2017)
Response: No response yet
Question: No problem waiting on the inventory Clive, you can press the accept button and follow the on screen instructions, unfortunately DQC block any phone numbers and any links to websites, but once you book you will be given all my contact details and vice-versa.

Your books sound interesting, i would read a little if i get the time, Dean Koontz etc.
