If we can\u2019t move<\/a> into our house for the amount of \u2018stuff\u2019 we have lying around, then we instinctively think that we really must declutter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However,\nsometimes having too much of our belongings lying around where they shouldn\u2019t\nbe isn\u2019t always a clutter problem; it can also be a storage problem. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You\nmight think, \u2018well, I have lots of cupboards, shelves and wardrobes, how could\nI have a storage problem.\u2019 Simply having somewhere to put things doesn\u2019t mean\nwe are getting the most out of our storage space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here\nare a few tips to help maximise storage space in our homes:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Hanging storage organisers<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Hanging\nrails in your wardrobe are probably just being used for shirts and trousers.\nYou can pick up a hanging storage organiser for just a few pounds, but it can\nsave you a tonne of space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hanging storage<\/a> organisers can be used to tidying away shoes and t-shirts and any other small items that are clogging up the floor of your wardrobe. These can free up more space at the bottom of your wardrobe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hooks for hanging pans<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Kitchen\ncupboards can get very quickly out of hand. Trying to shove more and more pots\nand pans can lead to a disorganised mess. Then the real frustration comes when\nyou have to dig into the back of the cupboard to find the one-pot you actually\nneed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Installing\na rail below a shelf in the kitchen can allow you to hang hooks from it, which\ncan be used for some of your pots and pans, which are taking up space in the\ncupboard. This also has the advantage of putting them in easy reach when you\nneed them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Extra shelving<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s\nno great revelation that shelves are a great storage solution, but are there\nsome places where they could be more useful than you think? Many wardrobes, for\nexample, follow the familiar top-to-bottom design. Can you do away with half of\nthe rail and pop a few shelves down one side of your wardrobe? This can really\nhelp with the storage of smaller items that accumulate in other parts of the\nroom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Similarly,\nare you get the most of your kitchen cupboards? Some deep cupboards may not\nhold that much. A few extra shelves may allow you to stack more onto them.\nShelves can be installed so that it is easy to remove them in the future if you\nneed to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Take folding masterclass<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

We\nprobably all have one or two drawers that are bursting with clothes. That\u2019s\nbecause we tend to just stuff more items on top of others and then wonder why\nwe did have enough space. One of the reasons may not be the number of clothes\nwe have but how we are folding them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
