Could you please also quote for this, If we are happy, it would make sense to keep a relationship going of using you for all of our shipments. - (29-04-2016)

Hi Josh, It would depend upon your terms of purchase it is usual for Chinese companies to offer an FOB price for export so they would take care of Chinese customs formalities and local charges. We can do door to door sea freight no problem but we would need to go out to China to obtain the local costs from our agent. The DQC quote system does not allow 2 live quotes from the same company at any one time so if we put in an idea of cost it would erase the current bid. The more you ship of course the cheaper per unit it gets, we could advise on options. Are you aware of the requirement of obtaining an EORI number to allow you to import items? You will need one otherwise your items will be held by customs upon arrival and rent charged accordingly until you produce an EORI number Regards Graham - (29-04-2016)
- Question:
Hi Graham
Will we need an EORI number for air freight too? We are not a VAT registered company.
We have an account and have been dealing with DHL up until now for most of our samples (we are a watch company) and now we have some large shipments to come the DHL prices were not very competitive, hence looking elsewhere. But it's a new thing for me, up until now we have not had to have an EORI number. The total declared value of our shipment is around about £125. - (29-04-2016)
- Response:
Hi Josh, It really depends upon Customs at the time. The rule is if you are importing an item not for personal use but for sale then an EORI number should be obtained. You can usually get away with samples and small quantity imports addressed to private individuals especially through courier networks but with a larger quantity you do run the risk of attracting HMRC. Our current quote is via courier regards Graham - (29-04-2016)
- Question:
Hi Graham
Thanks for the info, I will apply for the EORI number asap. We are hoping to have be shipment collected around the 12th of May. We are really flexible with dates.
What is he estimated delivery time to the address in uk? - (29-04-2016)
- Response:
Hi Josh, It usually takes a day or two to set up the collection with the Chinese then around 7 days. You can apply on lie for your EORI, we will ship this on our TNT wholesale a/c any info you need just ask regards Graham
regards

- Question:
Hi Graham
Thanks for this. If it is ok with you would I be able to give you a call? - (29-04-2016)
- Response:
Hi Josh, It would be the best way to get things done with this of shipment but unfortunately the website will not allow us to exchange contact details before they receive their booking regards graham - (29-04-2016)
- Question:
Ok makes sense, just a few questions so I thought be easier to just call. As its my first larger shipment. I just wanted to understand the process once we have agreed the pickup date and arranged payment to you. I assume everything then Is handled by yourself and any VAT or duties I have to pay you will inform me about. So all I have to do is give the go ahead for the shipment to you and pay any vat and duties that appear? No other costs or anything.
Thanks Graham - (29-04-2016)
- Response:
Hi Josh, That's it basically, if we bring the consignment in by courier (say TNT) they submit everything to HMRC as part of their system and advise you of the VAT & Duty payment if any. For larger consignments we quote you to delivered door and we take care of the import entry and advise you of the VAT and Duty upon arrival Regards Graham - (29-04-2016)
- Question:
That's great, thanks Graham, I just wanted to be sure no hidden costs and he only extra costs will be the VAT and import duties if any.
I will contact you next week to arrange shipment and payment if that is ok with you?
