- Question:
Thank you for your bid. Did you look at the full eBay listing, including the description? The seller was keen to stress that there are some garden steps to negotiate and that a couple of the shed panels were very heavy.
Kind regards,
Toby - (08-04-2013)
- Response:
yes i see what you mean how many panels are there and could 2 of us lift them? kind regards dave - (08-04-2013)
- Question:
I assume there are 6 panels (4 walls, roof and floor), but I can check with the seller if you like?
As for a 2 person lift I really couldn't say - all I know is that the lady I've bought it from has said that 3 removal men lifted the heavier sections up the steps. I'd like to think that it would be a 2 man job, but I wouldn't want you to find yourself with an impossible task.
I could also ask the seller for a photo of the steps that you will need to negotiate if that helps?
Regards,
Toby - (08-04-2013)
- Response:
yes that shouldnt be a problem its just if i had a rough idea of the weight i can then use 3 of us if needed, just also need to know how many steps? kind regards dave - (08-04-2013)
- Question:
Hi Dave. I'll ask the lady to provide a photo of the stepped access - it may simply be that it was quite awkward and that's why 3 men were needed. On the other hand it may have been the weight, but I just don't know how heavy each panel is.
I'll try to get a photo across and then you can confirm whether you're still happy to take it on.
When would you ideally be looking to collect?
Thanks,
Toby - (08-04-2013)
- Response:
ok thanks, i can do it saturday morning. kind regards dave - (08-04-2013)
- Question:
Hi Dave,
You will see that I have accepted your bid - I was tempted to wait to see if I received more competitive bids on Shiply, but your feedback and professional approach have left me feeling that you're the best person for the job.
I'm not sure if the seller is going to provide a photo showing the steps up to the garden so if this is a problem please let me know.
I will contact her to ask for her phone number so that you can call her before collecting on Saturday morning. I'll also pass on her full address.
Thanks,
Toby - (09-04-2013)
- Response:
hello toby thank you very much, thats great as i say im sure we will manage there is 3 of us and i dont give up easy! I look forward to hearing from you, kindest regards dave - (09-04-2013)
- Question:
Hi Dave. A couple of things to note before your collection on Saturday:
The exact address is: 8, Phillips Hatch, Wonersh, Guildford, Surrey. GU5 0PX
Are you able to give a reasonably firm time for collection? The lady was hoping for a time between 11am and 4pm, but I've told her that I think it'll be earlier in the morning. Please let me know.
She also wanted to stress that extra care MUST be taken while moving the panels between some stone walling as she's a little anxious about damage being caused by knocks - I'm sure you've heard it all before!
And finally, she would prefer that all calls go through me so if you need to contact me my number is 07793 225689.
Thanks,
Toby - (09-04-2013)

- Question:
Hi Dave. As you can imagine I'm incredibly frustrated by the failed collection today, especially after stressing to you that you would need 3 guys and after you confirmed that you would have the necessary manpower. Unfortunately as a result the seller is now refusing to allow me to pick up the shed at all and they are also planning to withhold some of the payment for lost eBay & PayPal fees. This is completely unreasonable on their part, but that's something that I'll need to deal with.
I'm not the sort of person that gets into disputes with people and so I'd really like to avoid that with you also. I do obviously expect a refund of my deposit and I also think that you should cover the losses that I'm facing from the seller for their combined eBay and PayPal fees of approx. £20. I believe that I'm offering a very fair compromise and would appreciate you coming back to me ASAP. I don't feel that it would be right to leave you positive feedback, but should you be in agreement with my suggestion I'd agree not to leave any feedback at all.
Regards,
Toby

- Response:
hi toby, firstly you suprise me! that person you are dealing with is an obnoxious ponce and his wife is worst! AS soon as I arrived she said "what ever you do dont touch my stone walling" which is almost impossible! the shed is actually on the side of a grass bank which the ponce said that he cant move i may add, I actually refused to move this from its position as it is dangerous and can easily result in broken bones as you firstly have to walk 5yds. down a 1 in 3 grass bank with a 50 kilo 10ft panels, Then you have to negotiate 15 narrow, very steep turning steps all, without touching her stone wall. This person was looking down on the hired help which i may add was 3 of us and i even said to him after his and hers unexplained forceful comments, that if he could put it in a accessable area then i will have no problem carrying it 100yds. but im afraid she said " thats your problem, deal with it". Im sorry toby but after being treated and spoken to like the servant or dog i had to leave for my own sake ! If he dont move it from where it is then im sure you wont be able to collect it, trust me, im not afraid of hard graft and have even worked in the tiny private welsh mines, but this is a danger to move and thata without the huge risk of touching her walls ! Lastly Toby, you want me to pay you!! i had 3 men plus i may add my wife, my van, my diesel and above all my time for £100, lets be realistic, you, or the ponce, or his wench did not disclose the dangerous side of the job. please feel free to leave negative feedback, ( to which i can reply to) also feel free to show this to the other 2.I dont take kindly to being threatened or blackmailed after all, im the loser. regards dave - (14-04-2013)
- Question:
Hi Dave. I think I'll have to agree with most of what you've said - since writing to you I've also seen first hand just how obnoxious he is. I actually can't believe just how unreasonable he is. I won't bore you with the details, but I find it hard to believe that there are people like that.
I would also agree that you shouldn't have to settle the money that they are withholding - I'll be taking that up with eBay (for what good it'll do).
I understand what you're saying about the difficulties in moving the shed. However the one thing that isn't a fair account is that of the number of people you had with you - you told me yourself that it was just you and your wife. And in absolutely no way was I trying to blackmail you - that's so far away from the way I do things.
The fairest thing would be for you to refund my deposit as I'm certainly not at fault and have been as open and honest as I possibly could have been throughout this whole saga. I'd also like to think that I was very understanding when I spoke to you yesterday, when other people may have reacted to the frustration of the situation.
Lastly I'm genuinely sorry that either of us have had to deal with these people - if they were looking down on you then it's really awful and I'll make sure my eBay feedback on them reflects what sort of people they are!
No matter what you decide, I won't be leaving you bad feedback - I'm a much nicer person than that!
Regards,
Toby - (14-04-2013)
